About the artist

Antoinette Agathe van Hoytema was a Dutch painter from Delft that is best known for her lithographs and paintings. She usually depicted still-lifes and portraits in a naturalistic style. She was mostly autodidact and only received some education from H.P. Bremmer and at Art Academy ‘Kunstoefening’ in Arnhem. She was a member of ‘De Onafhankelijken’ in Amsterdam, the ‘Federatie van B.B.K.’ and female artist’s association ‘O.D.I.S’. Her works can be viewed in multiple museums such as the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, 'Gemeentemuseum Den Haag' and the Kröller-Müller Museum.
