Basuki Abdullah

Basuki Abdullah was an Indonesian painter. He received his education in The Hague. He painted (female) portraits and wildlife in the Realist style. After the war he won an art contest on the occasion of the accession of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. He became well known and also got to paint the portrait of President Sukarno. Tragically, he was beaten to death by three thieves who broke into his house.
