Chris Soer (1882, The Hague – 1961, The Hague) was a Dutch draughtsman and painter. He was educated at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten (Royal Academy of Fine Arts), The Hague. Chris Soer (1882, The Hague – 1961, The Hague) was a Dutch draughtsman and painter. He was educated at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten (Royal Academy of Fine Arts), The Hague. He belongs to the second generation of the Hague School. Initially painting in a naturalistic style, he began adopting an impressionistic style later on. He painted landscapes, cityscapes, still lifes, flower still lifes and winter landscapes. He was active in The Hague, but made several study trips, to Belgium, France and Germany. Soer was a teacher to Mies Biermasz, Cornelis Langbroek and Willem van Roon. He was a member of the Nederlandse Kunstkring in The Hague.
