Clement De Jonghe (1624-1677) was a Dutch engraver, publisher and print dealer. Clement De Jonghe was born around 1624-1625 in Brunsbüttel in the district of Dithmarse, a coastal area in northern Germany. He remained active in Germany from 1639 to 16433. Clement De Jonghe (1624-1677) was a Dutch engraver, publisher and print dealer.

Clement De Jonghe was born around 1624-1625 in Brunsbüttel in the district of Dithmarse, a coastal area in northern Germany. He remained active in Germany from 1639 to 16433.

He was active in Amsterdam from 1643 until his death in 16773. A friend of Rembrandt, he obtained 74 of his prints, and had an engraved portrait bearing his name made in 1651.

With over 60,000 prints, Clement De Jonghe is a major player in the art market. His collection of copper plates (including 74 etchings by Rembrandt) were auctioned in Amsterdam on June 14 and October 25, 16793.

He edited many artists including Hendrik Bary, Abraham Bloteling or Cornelis van Dalen.

He died in June 1677, probably on the 25th, the same day he was buried in the old church in Amsterdam.
