Conrad Felixmüller was a German painter of Expressionist and New Objectivity art from Dresden. After giving up his career in music he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden. In 1916, at age 19, he participated in his first exhibition in Galerie Sturm in Berlin. In 1919 he became a founder member and president of the Dresden Sezession Group with Lasar Segall, Otto Dix and Otto Griebel. During the Naziregime, over 150 of his works were taken by the government, which is the reason why many of his works are currently still lost. In 1937, Felixmüller lost his studio as well because of a British air raid in 1944. From 1967 until his death in 1977, Felixmüller lived in Berlin, working in a more realistic way. Even prior to his death, Conrad held expositions in numerous places such as Rome, Florence, Berlin and Paris.
