Cornelis Jaring (1936–2013) was a Dutch photographer and conceptual artist, born in Amsterdam on 18 December 1936, he died on 17 November 2013. Initially a dockworker, Jaring started to experiment with photography between his working hours, capturing friends, fellow dockers, gaugers and ironworkers on camera. He began working as a full-time photographer in the 1950s. Cor Jaring became famous for his photographs of the Dutch Provo movement and his portrait of John Lennon and Yoko Ono in the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel in 1969. While Jaring mainly photographed Amsterdam, he also reported the hard-working poor, transsexuals, and nude models on the other side of the world.
