Cornelis Wouter Verschuur was the pseudonym of Cornelis Bouter. Bouter used various pseudonyms including, Cornelis Wouter, Cornelis Willems, Cornelis Hendriks and A.J. van Eijbergen. Bouter was a Dutch painter who was born in Gouda on 1 October 1888, he died in The Hague on 9 January 1966. He lived in The Hague until 1928, Voorburg between 1928 and 1948 and thereafter The Hague. He was noted for his interiors with figures which were inspired by Blommers and Israels. He also painted cityscapes after the style of Klinkenberg and was especially renowned for his landscapes with cattle and horses. His work was very popular in North America and Canada.
