About the artist

Daniëlle van Ark (1974, Schiedam) is a Duch visual artist. She attended the Koninklijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten (Royal Academy of Fine Arts), The Hague (2000-2005, BA), she studied photography at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten (State Academy of Fine Arts), Amsterdam (2012-2013). The works of Daniëlle van Ark show the fragility of life and explore her own position as an artist today. She was active in The Hague and New York, where she assisted Dana Lixenberg. Nowadays she works and lives in Amsterdam. She had several solo exhibitions: Museum van Loon, 'Foam in Van Loon III: Danielle van Ark,' Amsterdam (2012), Kunstvlaai/ Artpie, Saratimtrust booth, Amsterdam (2010), For Art’s Sake, SBK-Zuid, Amsterdam (2010); group exhibitions, among others: Claire's Foster Gallery, Wisconsin, USA (2013), Buitenplaats Beeckesteijn, Velsen, the Netherlands (2013), Nuit Blanche, Amsterdam (2013); National Portrait Prize, GEM, The Hague (2012), Recontres photo festival, Arles, France (2011). Her works are in the collections of Dutch Ministry of Foreign affairs, Washington DC; Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital, Amsterdam; Amsterdams Medisch Centrum, Amsterdam; FOAM, Amsterdam.
