About the artist
Douglass McDougall is a Scottish artist, based in London. He works with various kinds of charcoal, using sandpaper, blades, scalpels and sharply cut erasers to create very detailed, photo-realistic black-and-white portraits. His portraits are so realistic that it is almost like they are black and white photographs. He mainly makes portraits of his close friends. Today, he has exhibited internationally, his work is held in public and private collections around the world, and both The Sun and The Daily Telegraph in the UK, as well as numerous print and online outlets, have profiled him.
