About the artist
Emma Ekwall is a Swedish artist from Småland. She studied at the art academy in Stockholm together with her brother Knut Ekwall. After she finished the art academy she travelled to Munich and Leipzig. She is the first woman in Sweden who received a royal medal for her artwork in 1871. The subjects of her artworks are portraits, still life with flowers and genre paintings with children.
She uses an impressionistic style with mild colors.
