Jean-Joseph Weerts was a French painter who worked in the Academic style.
His father gave him his first drawing lessons.In 1858, he started at the Académie des Beaux-arts de Roubaix and in 1867, he applied at the École des Beaux-arts in 1867. He has produced a vast volume of works, almost 700, containing historical and religious themes. He received the Légion d'honneur in 1884.
