About the artist

Jeanne Bieruma Oosting was a Dutch artist who was born in Leeuwarden on 5 February 1898, she died in Almen on 14 July 1994. She lived and worked in Haarlem, The Hague and Amsterdam. She also stayed in Paris for a while. Jeanne Bieruma Oosting studied at the School of Arts and Applied Arts in Haarlem, the Academy of Art in The Hague and the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris. She painted interiors but also landscapes, portraits and still lifes. Bieruma Oosting was awarded a bronze medal in Paris at the World Exhibition of 1937. She was a member of the Hague art society Pulchri Studio and the Amsterdam art society Arti et Amicitiae. Her work is included in the collections of the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag (The Hague) and Singer Museum Laren.
