Joan Frans Berg (3 June 1851 – 13 August 1935) was a Dutch painter and illustrator, known for his portraits, genre pieces and cityscapes. Born in Amsterdam, he received his early training from P.E. Greive and August Allebé, after which he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 1868.

Berg lived and worked in Amsterdam until 1879, when he moved to The Hague. Around 1884 he settled in Paris, where he stayed until 1903. During this period he painted cityscapes and captured Parisian life. His work also included numerous illustrations, often with figures, which emphasise his skill in capturing human expression and everyday scenes.

After his return to the Netherlands, Berg focused on painting Zeeland farm life, capturing the daily lives of farmers and their surroundings. His oeuvre is characterised by a realistic style and a keen eye for detail, which reflects his deep involvement with his subjects.

Berg's works have been offered at auction several times, which testifies to a continuing interest in his contribution to Dutch painting. His paintings offer a valuable insight into the life and culture of his time, both in the Netherlands and in France.
