About the artist

John Burton (1966, UK) is a British artist who makes geometric, abstract and minimalistic sculptures in glass and 2D works in mixed media. Between 1995 and 1998 he studied 3D Design at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design in Farnham. After working at the Hadeland Glaswerks in Norway and Neil Wilkin's studio in Somerset, he started his career as an independent artist in 2003. Since 2007 he has been living and working in the Netherlands. He works with a very muted palette and has a preference for simplicity and geometric forms. Burton is inspired by microbiological science, technology, and the world surrounding him. He has had various exhibitions in the UK and the Netherlands and his work can be found in many public and private collections, such as the celebrated Ernsting Stiftung Glasmuseum in Germany.
