About the artist
Katja Prins is a famous Dutch jewellery designer who was born in Haarlem, the Netherlands in 1970.
Prins attended the Vakschool Schoonhoven from 1989-1993 and later enrolled at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam where she studied from 1993 to 1997.
In her work Prins hints at the relationship between the human body and medical technologies. In her work she questions the relationship between human body and machine, plastic surgery and nanotechnology.
Prins has been commissioned countless works and her jewellery is featured in many public collections including the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, SM's Stedelijk Museum 's-Hertogenbosch,
Schmuck Museum, Pforzheim, Germany,
European Ceramcic Work Centre, 's-Hertogenbosch, Museum of Modern Art, Arnhem,
and the CODA Museum, Apeldoorn.
