About the artist
Leo Bervoets was born in Antwerp in 1892. He studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten. Afterwords he worked for some time in Veere (Zeeland, the Netherlands) and Paris. In Paris he was introduced with new painting styles. Most of his life he spent in Antwerp; his home town.
He was a part of the second group 'Moderne Kunst' with artists like Ernest Albert and Paul Joostens.
After World War II , his work was a little bit forgotten as abstract art from a younger generation became more a hype. Nevertheless he remained working in his own style and had several exhibitions.
He died in 1978 in Antwerp, Belgium
