About the artist
Marcello Malandugno was born in 1965 in Lecce, Italy, where he also studied at the Accademia delle Belle Arti. From a young age, he developed a fascination with nature, the rhythms of life, and the symbolism inherent in them. This fascination forms the common thread throughout his artistic practice. His paintings, mostly executed in oil on canvas, demonstrate a strong sense of harmony, rhythm, and cycles, and are often constructed from layered compositions that radiate both power and tranquility.
Over the years, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, and has received numerous awards and distinctions. His work is included in both private and public collections and is regularly shown by galleries, including exclusive galleries in the Benelux.
Central to his work is a philosophical approach to existence. As the artist himself says: “Everything in life arises from the eternal, natural balance. That balance as the energetic source of existence. Feminine and masculine, growth and transience, giving and taking, spirit and matter. All my paintings depict that existential balance.”
In each canvas, Malandugno seeks this cosmic equilibrium. His visual language allows space for contemplation and invites the viewer to an inner dialogue: a quest for balance that is both personal and universally recognizable. His work thus transcends the direct representation of nature and becomes a mirror for life itself.
