Marie José Robben (1959, Loon op Zand) is a Dutch painter, who attended the Koninklijke Academie voor Kunst en Vormgeving (Royal Academy of Art and Design) in Den Bosch (1979-1985), the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten (State Academy of Fine Arts) in Amsterdam (1985-1988) and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She studied among others under the Dutch teachers Ger Lataster and Jan Sierhuis. Her work is colourful and has a firm texture and touch. She made a number of portraits of famous painters of the past. Nowadays seascapes, marines, landscapes, still lifes, flower still lifes, but also more abstract images are her favourite subjects. She works with watercolour, chalk and oil paint. She works and lives in Amsterdam. Marie José Robben has had many solo exhibitions since 1987, when she had a solo show in Chapelle de Petits Augustins in Paris.
