About the artist

Ruud van der Neut is a Dutch artist born in Heemstede in 1949. He is inspired by the beauty of an antique vase in combination with a single flower. That Ruud van der Neut is inspired by antique objects in particular is not surprising, he is an antiques dealer from Haarlem. He often publishes articles on art and antiques in books and in magazines. Van der Neut was one of the writers for a book about Jeroen Krabbé. Moreover he styled several exhibitions for the Teylers museum, the Hermitage, Frans Hals museum and Fries Museum.

In his artworks he does not use a lot of color, three or four different colors per painting. He paints his artworks on seventeen century oak wooden panels. He uses an diffuse light and subtle shadows, this gives the still lives an eternal appearance.
