- About the artist
Gérard Redoulès is a French visual artist. After finishing his studies at the Academy of Applied Arts in Paris, Redoulès became a furniture maker and restaurateur that specialized in the techniques of Japanese Lacquer.
At age 40, Redoulès decided to dedicate his life to the visual arts and started working from his atelier, a side building of the castle where the famous Marquis de Sade had lived. Redoulès examines nature and depicts impressions of nature in a lyrical abstract manner. He works with lacquer on wood, delicately layering and sanding his artworks, which leads to a beautiful depth and transparency in his art.
