About the Artist
Frans Langeveld (1877 - 1939) was an Amsterdam born Dutch painter who was a member of the Laren School (second generation). He attended two different Art schools in Amsterdam, after which he lived in Rotterdam, Paris, Munich, Blaricum and eventually in Laren. He mostly depicted landscapes, interiors and cityscapes with figures in a rough and robust style. He was strongly influenced by Jacob Maris. He died in Laren in 1939.
