About the Artist

Alexander Joseph Daiwaille was born in Amsterdam, January 21th, 1818. His father was a painter named Jean Augustin Daiwaille. Alexander himself most often painted portraits, although he later turned to landscapes as well. As he travelled around the Netherlands and Germany, he has depicted a various number of places here. Daiwaille moved to Brussels later in his life, and remained living here until his death in 1888.
