About the Artist

Jan Bogaerts was a Dutch painter who was born in 1878.

After his education at the academies at Den Bosch (Nld) and Antwerp (Be) he started to paint in the manner of the Symbolism. In this period you can see the influence of his Den Bosch master Antoon van Weelie.
After 1915 he mainly produced still lifes; not only with flowers but as well with other objects, like bottles, dishes and boxes etc. These paintings are more realistic painted than his work before 1915. He died in 1962.

His works can be seen in museums as Gemeentemuseum at Arnhem, Teylers Museum at Haarlem and Noordbrabants Museum at Den Bosch,The Netherlands.
