- About the artist
Jiro Kamata was born in 1978 in Hirosaki, Japan. A Japanese artist living and working in Munich, Germany, he trained under Otto Künzli at the renowned and much acclaimed Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 2000-2006.
Kamata has developed a style and working method in which he applies highly developed goldsmithing techniques to non-traditional materials. This unique method, which uses among other materials camera lenses has gained him international acclaim and exhibits since 1999.
Kamata has exhibited in Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Poland, Switzerland, Luxembourg, USA, Japan, China, Australia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand and Mexico and is an assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich.
