Willem Alexander Knip, born in Amsterdam 1883, died in Blaricum 1967, Holland.
He studied at the artscool in Amsterdam and had painting lessons in Haarlem from J.J.C. Lebeau.
Willem Knip lived in Amsterdam and surroundings but he also reglularly worked in France, Italy and Spain. Painter of landscapes, harbour- and townviews.
He won the St. Lucasprize in 1942 and the Arti-medaille in 1953.
Works by W.A. Knip in posession of the Rijkscollectie, Stedelijk Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven and the Singer Museum in Laren.
