  • About the artwork
    Bronze figure by the animal sculptor Maximilian Fiot (France, 1886-1953) of a condor spreading its wings from a rock, called "Condor Des Andes" (Andean Condor), in lost wax (cire perdu) technique.
    Fully marked with the foundry stamp of Susse Frères, also in hand writing and the addition "cire perdu").
    Outstanding condition.
  • About the artist
    Fiot was born in Le Grand-Pressigny on January 22nd 1886. he was for a long time the pupil of Prosper Lecourtier. Fiot exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1910 till the outbreak of World War I in 1914. Most of the recorderd works by him consists mainly of birds, dogs , wild cats and other wild animals. His style is considered to be very modern in appearance by comparison to the other fellow artists in that period . Most of his works were casts by the Susse Frères foundry but some of his earlier bronzes were cast by other foundries.
