- About the artistHans Kanters (1947, Amsterdam) is a self-taught Dutch artist. He has been making paintings since 1967, lithographs and etchings since 1986, and sculptures and bronze statues since 1994. He lived and worked in the Netherlands, southern Spain, Formentera and southern France. From 1993 onwards, he lives in Ibiza. He exhibited in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, the United States and Japan, in galleries and at art fairs. His paintings are permanently exhibited in Museum Jan van der Togt in Amstelveen. As an autodidact, Kanters has produced paintings and other artworks his own way, without paying attention to trends or fashion. After his erotic period in the 1970s, Surrealism has been dominant in his work since the 1980s. From November 2012 to January 2013, Kanters had a solo exhibition in Museum Jan van der Togt.
