    [Watercolour with fruits on paper].
    [Netherlands, ca. 1733-1777]. 18.5 x 30.5 cm. Watercolour on paper with a branch of redberries, two peaches, a blue plum, an opened walnut, an opened hazel nut and a large green/blue pumpkin.

    Beautiful still life of fruits by Michiel van Huysum (1703-1777), a painter of flowers and fruits. He was a brother of the famous still life painter Jan van Huysum (1682-1740). Michiel van Huysum's active working years are estimated between 1729 and 1759, his work is extremely rare.
    Paper with watermark: 'D&C Blauw'.

    Michiel van Huysum was born in Amsterdam.
    He was born in a artistic family of artists. Michiel is known for his Arcadian landscapes, watercolours of fruit and flowers.
    He died at age of 74 in Amsterdam.
    He was the youngest son of painter Justus van Huysum (I); and brother of Jan van Huysum and uncle of Francina Margaretha van Huysum
