About the ArtistHendrik Albert van Trigt was born in Dordrecht on 22 October 1829, he died in Heiloo on 6 June 1899. After studying at the art academy in The Hague between 1845 and 1852, he moved to Paris where he studied until 1857. He alternately lived and worked in Dordrecht and Antwerp. In Antwerp he was apprenticed to H.J. Baron Leys. He also lived in Amsterdam, Oosterbeek, Hilversum
and Nijmegen. He painted historical pieces but he also made lithographs and watercolours. He exhibited in Amsterdam and The Hague. His work is included in the collections of the Rijksprentenkabinet, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Museum Dordrecht, Gemeentemuseum Den Haag,
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, among others.
