- About the artistLeonard Gustaaf Imandt was a Dutch painter, born in Hulst on 5 August 1890, he died in Bergen op Zoom on 1 January 1962. At the age of 16, he moved to Antwerp, where he studied at the art academy. After marrying Melanie van Herck in 1915, he fled with his family to the Netherlands in 1917, where they settled in Bergen op Zoom. There, he became a soldier, non-commissioned officer and eventually adjutant. In his spare time, he was a painter of décors and seascapes.
