FRED, originally Fred Joaillier, is a French jewellery brand named after Fred Samuel, who founded the first store in 1936. He became famous for his clients such as Marlène Dietrich and Grace Kelly. During the Second World War Fred Samuel fled Paris, which led to a renaming of the brand to FRED by the German occupiers. In 1976, FRED opened multiple stores across the world. Notable jewels made by FRED are the necklace made for 'Pretty Woman', which was made of 18k white gold, diamonds and rubies, and the jewellery for Casino Royale starring Daniel Craig.
