The Fauve effect of the Brabantpainters comes forward in the impressionistic style of Paerels. The three dimensional illusion is nicely introduced by the new horizon of the porch of the terrace.

Willem Paerels, born in Delft (Holland) 1878 he died in Braine-l’Alleud (Belgium) 1962. By birth Willem Paerels had the Dutch nationality but he changed to the Belgian nationality.
He was self-taught. At first he painted impressionistic, than he followed the fauvistic stream and at last he was with the Flamish expressionistic painters. Willem Paerels painted portrets, figures, still-lives and landscapes.
Works by Willem Paerels in museums in Antwerp and Brussels (Belgium), the Haags Gemeentemuseum (The Hague) and Museum Boymans-van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
