- About the artist
Jan Heyse was born in Zierikzee. He was a delicate and skilled artist. Moreover, he was a perfectionist. His work is sensitive and tranquil. He was educated at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. Jan Heyse was a painter, draftsman, watercolorist and graphic artist. His subjects were landscapes, cityscapes, figures, still lifes, nudes and animals. He stayed in Zierikzee, Amsterdam, Middelburg, but lived most of his life in Veere. He participated in all Domburg exhibitions from 1911 to 1917 and 1919 to 1920. His work has been included in the Drents Museum Assen, Zeeuws Museum Middelburg and the Rijksprentenkabinet Amsterdam.
