About the ArtistGerard Huysman was born in the Dutch city of Zaandam, on the 17th of February, 1953. He currently resides in Alphen aan de Rijn.
Between 1973 and 1978 he was a student at the Gerrit Rietvelt Academy in Amsterdam, where he first recognized his passion for painting.
Subjects of his preference are architecture or landscapes, but the one thing his paintings have in common is the depiction of light. This is the reason Huysman is known to play with atmosphere: his depictions can vary from bright ones to warmer, tensed summer evenings or even the grey-whitish light that exists when it's raining.
Huysman works with oil paint on panel, or crayon on paper. His art is represented by a number of galleries and is part of numerous collections as those of Leiden University of Rotterdam Erasmus University.
