About the Artist - 2 more artworks
Emile van de Kruk (Rotterdam, 1956) is a Dutch sculptor. He studied at the art academies of Rotterdam and Amersfoort but also holds a degree in Art History from the University of Utrecht. Van de Kruk’s bilateral portfolio consists of wooden and bronze/mixed pieces, which are, in turn, very diverse stylistically as well as in terms of subject-matter. His wooden sculptures are instantly recognizable due to their rough finish, whereas his bronze pieces are slightly more refined but still convey a sense of unruliness. Figuration is key and art historical as well as psychoanalytical references can be traced back in every piece.
