  • About the artist

Pierre Alechinsky is a Belgian Cobra painter born in Brussels, who studied at the Ecole Supérieure d'Architecture et des Arts Décoratifs in Brussels. Alechinsky combines several techniques in his work. For instance, he combines watercolour and sketching. His work became more animated in the second half of the 1950s. He also applied his paint thicker and thicker to the canvas. His canvases were covered with masses of paint in green, blue, white and grey tones. In the late fifties, his work reached a greater freedom (both in form and in colour) and fabulous creatures appeared in his works.
