Jiang Peishan is a young talented artist living and working in Xiamen. Despite her young age, she has an impressive resume with many exhibitions and shows at home and abroad. Her paintings are in private and public collections in China and abroad.
Jiang Peishan’s statement:
‘The Lotus: A Reflection of Inner Peace
In the hustle and bustle of life, I searched for a serene place, a quiet lotus pond where lotus flowers and buds gently sway in the breeze and dance with the flowing water. Like a practitioner who is unhindered and relaxed, the lotus symbolizes purity and perfection. It grows quietly, without the need for recognition, but with a deep, unique wisdom.
My paintings are an exploration of this microscopic world of the lotus. They serve as a channel to convey a Zen idea, an invitation to reflection and tranquility. For the canvas, I try to capture the harmony of that one moment—a moment in which thoughts and perceptions of life come together and are expressed.
With colors I seek the transcendent; a world where the viewer can experience a sense of pure Zen. Every line, every shade, and every material I use carries emotions. They tell stories about the cycle and transience of life, but at the same time radiate indifference and calmness.
The creative process brings me inner peace and clarity. It is my hope that my paintings, in addition to their aesthetic value, inspire people to let go of obsessions and appreciate every moment. In a world that is constantly changing, we all need a calm heart to embrace the peaks and valleys of life and find true happiness.
Although small, the lotus contains an infinitely large world. May we all be like the lotus: free of mind and relaxed, no matter what life brings.’
