- About the artistBaguès is a renowned French savoir-faire company, specialized in the creation of luxury lighting. The company was established in Auvergne around 1840, concentrating on liturgical bronze, and due to the bronze lighting brought about by the generalization of electricity, the company quickly made its name. Although Baguès started as a family company, other art directors and decorators of the time, as Jansen and Raymond Subes appeared in their order books.
In between the First and the Second world war, the development of the company reached international levels, as permanent establishments were created in New York, Rome and Cairo. Aside from this expansion, the company’s activity also extended into the manufacturing of metal gates and banisters, which still decorate numerous renowned buildings in Paris today.
Nowadays Baguès, located in Paris under the Viaduct des Arts, pursues the edition of its oldest models and the restoration of collectible pieces. In the workshop Baguès’ irons and bronzes are still being shaped according to traditional techniques. The Maison Baguès therefore remains for many decorators a synonym of elegance and excellence.
