Through my art, I aim to ignite a dialogue on the themes of individuality and identity in the context of consumerism, offering an unconventional perspective on the subject. My work seeks to delve into the pervasive role of consumerism in our daily lives and its swift responsiveness to global events, as evidenced by the changes in our shopping habits. Furthermore, I explore the influence of social media on our food culture, where rapidly evolving culinary trends affect our demand for innovative products, thus leading to an examination of the implications for product design and its potential to serve as a cultural timestamp.
Within the products we select, there lies a wealth of information about the individuals making these choices. These choices reveal personal facets such as background, financial status, dietary preferences, sustainability consciousness, and even household size. In this light, products become like the brushstrokes that shape a consumer's portrait.
In addition to these aspects, my artistic endeavors extend to themes of nutrition awareness, psychology, and sustainability. I aspire to transform the mundane chore of grocery shopping into a captivating simulation. My ongoing project involves curating an extensive collection of international, special, and limited-edition packaging, which I leverage to craft surreal, exclusive, high-end shopping bags. This ambitious endeavor serves as the foundation for an international archive of supermarket products, offering a glimpse into the potential future offerings of supermarkets.
Notably, these physically collected products are not just a muse for my paintings but are integral in constructing store shelves that will underpin the fictional supermarket I'm developing. The amalgamation of these paintings and installations will culminate in future exhibitions, inviting viewers to engage with the multifaceted world of consumerism, identity, and culture.
