- About the artist
The paintings of Martin Koole (Amsterdam, 1956) are characterized as diffuse and soft and at the same time as powerful and smooth in the brushwork.
In a predominantly moderate color palette, he paints his beloved themes of humans and animals in a precise handwriting. The artist says: "Animals move me as much as people can fascinate me."
He followed his training as a teacher of visual arts in Delft and Amsterdam. For the next twenty years he divided his attention and time between secondary education lessons and his painting studio and furniture and decoration workshop. In 2003, Martin decided to devote more time to his painting career and left education.
Recently, Martin has mainly painted large surreal scenes of people in an alienating environment. The artist lives and works in The Hague.
