Frode Bolhuis was sixteen when he moved to England to become a pupil of sculptors Lorne McKean and Edwin Russel. In 1996 he attended St Oswald's Academy in London and continued his study at the Academy Minerva in Groningen.

Nowadays he is an independent artist who lives in Amsterdam. For his sculptures he uses several materials, such as bronze and ceramics. He is a member of the Nederlandse Kring van Beeldhouwers.
