Ola Lanko is a contemporary artist, born in Chernigiv (Ukraine) in 1985. She creates installation art, containing photography. After graduating with a Master of Sociology from the University of Kyiv (Ukraine) in 2007, she studied photography at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (The Netherlands) between 2008 and 2010. Thereafter, she enrolled in the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2012. Lanko was honoured with the Steenbergen Stipendium, an annual prize for photography graduates. In 2013 she was awarded the New Talent Photography award. In 2015 she was artist-in-residence at WILES Contemporary Art Centre in Brussels. She has had various exhibitions among others, FOAM, Nederlands Fotomuseum and Musée de L’ Elysée. Lanko currently lives and works in Amsterdam. Lanko also teaches photography at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague and is a guest lecturer at several academies in the Netherlands and Belgium.
