- About the artworkThe painter Jan Voerman senior belonged to the group of 19th century artists called the 'Amsterdam impressionists'. His paintings, his watercolours in particular, are known for their sensitive atmosphere. This watercolour (signed lower right) is a good example of his widely acknowledged talent. Jan Voerman has his own museum in Hattum (Holland).

Was a Dutch painter and lived in Hattem (Gelderland). He was married with Anna Henriette Gezina Verkade (Anna) Verkade, daughter of Ericus Gerhardus Verkade, founder of the Verkade factory. His son, Jan Voerman junior became a painter as well. Voerman Sr is known for his river IJssel landscapes.
