For this series Coppejans travelled to Senegal, an Islamic country where homosexuality is still considered a crime. There, he portrayed brave young people who refuse to conforms to these laws, risking life as an outcast, being unemployed and facing a jail sentence of up to ten years.
Ernst Coppejans only switched to a career in photography after working as a product designer for a couple of years. Next to freelance projects, he has made a name for himself within the world of fine art photography. His concepts often revolve around storytelling, inspired by the lives of real people and the choices they make.
