“The Kiss III” is a stunning lenticular artwork that captures the essence of passion, intimacy, and movement in a way that only this innovative medium can achieve. At the heart of the piece are three lips, beautifully rendered with a sense of depth and sensuality. However, this is not a static image. The lenticular technology allows the viewer to experience a dynamic transformation as they move around the artwork, revealing subtle changes in perspective and depth. The lips seem to shift and morph, evoking the powerful, fleeting nature of a kiss itself—a moment that is both timeless and ever-changing.
The unique lenticular process creates a mesmerizing, almost ethereal effect, with each viewing angle offering a slightly different interpretation of the image. This shift in perspective symbolizes the complexities and layers of love and desire, inviting the viewer to engage with the artwork on a deeper, more personal level. Whether viewed from the front, the side, or at an angle, The Kiss III seems to come alive, drawing the observer into its seductive, fluid world.
As a one-of-a-kind piece, The Kiss III is not just a visual experience but a sensory one, inviting reflection on the nature of human connection and the powerful language of touch. The three lips, in their simplicity and elegance, capture the universal, timeless act of a kiss—a symbol of love, passion, and the beauty of intimate moments shared between two people.
This exclusive 1/1 artwork challenges our perception of both art and emotion, making The Kiss III an extraordinary addition to any collection. It is a celebration of love, captured in motion and light, in a piece that is as unique as the kiss itself. - About the artist
For artist James Chiew, nothing happens by chance. All his creative expressions stem from his enormous urge for experiment and innovation. In his versatile mixed media works, the originally Singaporean autodidact always pushes the boundaries. This is reflected in his ideas and choice of materials. In an idiosyncratic and original way, James combines (photographic) images and objects with different materials, such as wood, metal, acrylic paint, epoxy and everything else that is possible.
In doing so, he mixes modern graphic techniques with classical methods and analogous materials.
James Chiew: “The digital age offers unprecedented opportunities. I like to experiment, because I'm always looking for new angles. The challenge for me is to try to achieve the impossible. I want to make things more beautiful. That often starts in my immediate environment.Everyday objects at home and in the studio I try to show in a special way. By pimping objects, I make people look at them differently and think about them.” His works of art always have a lot of depth: literally and figuratively you discover several layers in his works.
Photography has only been the basis for James Chiew for a few years and proved to be the start of his new period. The camera and photo material offer him unprecedented perspectives, which immediately resulted in his most recognized work to date: Beatrix 3-D. In 2013, he was invited to the exhibition 'Image of Beatrix' in Paleis Het Loo and Paleis Soestdijk in honor of Beatrix's 75th birthday.
