- About the artist
Coen Vernooij (1952) makes standing and wall sculptures. Both are made of thin metal rods with iron glimmer paint or a powder coating. The bars define a space, a place that still needs to be filled in. The sculptures are very clear abstractions, reduced to their ultimate essence. Initially, you think you see everything, but further inspection shows that from every side the work is different. The standing sculptures should stand free so that one can walk around them. With every step you take the sculptures change unpredictably. Larger ones can be placed outside.
