Vintage diamond cluster ring with big rose cut diamond 1870
- About the artwork
This 18K bi-colour gold Victorian ring centres a grand oval shaped rose cut diamond as the foil set heart of a flower with ten rose cut diamonds as its surrounding petals of silver. The legacy of this cluster as part of an earring from 1870 has been salvaged in the design of this meticulously assembled ring from around 1930, as was common during the settlement of a heritage.

Technique: The rose cuts are set on foil. This is a special technique that was used to bring the lustre of the diamonds to its best quality.
Extra information: The top part of the ring is, most likely, born as an earring. And later in its lifespan (somewhere around the years 1930-1940) transformed into a ring. Such re-use is not uncommon after splitting of heritages.
Diamonds: One large (7,64 mm x 5,47 mm) and ten smaller rose cut diamonds. We do not have the weight of the diamonds which is normal in our trade when it comes to rose cuts.
Birthstones: Diamond is the birthstone (or month stone) for April.
