  • About the artist

Harrie Gerritz grew up in the land of Maas en Waal and this dear home landscape continues to fascinate and inspire him to this day. "The landscape can be something concrete, geographically speaking, but it mainly serves as an inspiration for my intuition," says the artist.

A recurring theme in Gerritz's work is the river landscape and his favorite vista, namely clouds above tree formations. In addition, soaring church towers, farm fences, riverbanks and parcelling meadows are the main motifs in his paintings.

Over the years, Gerritz's landscapes have become more abstract. It becomes more and more vistas in mind. He uses stylized visual language and emphasizes his perception of the landscapes.

The landscapes are not clearly recognizable, but merely an atmosphere of feeling. Characteristic of Gerritz's creations is the enthusiastic use of bright and expressive colours.

Harrie Gerritz's work is exhibited both at home and abroad, such as in Museum Het Valkhof in Nijmegen. His work belongs to the collections of companies, private individuals and museums, including the Museum van Bommel van Dam in Venlo and the Historical Museum Deventer.
