About the Artist
Ambraham van der Waeyen Pietersen was born in Middelburg in 1817, he died in Maria Hoorebeeke (Belgium) in 1880. He studied at the art academy in Middelburg, where he was trained to be a painter of furniture. In 1837 he began studying at the art academy in Ant-werpen, where he painted landscapes under Regemorter. He lived and worked in Antwerpen between 1837 to 1856. He moved to Brussels in 1856 and in 1870 he settled in Mechelen. He also produced various etchings. He taught W.J. van den Berghe (Berche) and L.J. Fuchs. He exhibited in Amsterdam in 1840, Groningen in 1841, The Hague between 1842 and 1853, Groningen between 1841 and 1856 and Leeuwarden in 1853.
