About the artist
"Where is it, what are they doing, who are they?" Jasper van Deutekom's work often raises these questions. It is looking, seeing and translating the image. The translation of the chosen subject, captured in a photo, has already arisen in his head.
Often it is a snapshot, a snapshot, an impression. The coincidence of the composition makes the snapshot even stronger. It is the work of a romantic who looks around and sees images that need to be painted.
Jasper van Deutekom (1964) was born in Arnhem and this is also where he still lives and works. After completing teacher training in Zwolle, he first started working as a classically trained drawing teacher. Ultimately, Jasper chose to focus more on his own art.
Nowadays he works from his studio in 'The transformation' and also gives drawing and painting courses. His work balances on the border between realism and impressionism.
